A "Doc D" Update

Here are some pictures that Damian sent me! Some of them are a little older, but the very last one is very recent. We had sent him some care packages that included blankets and kids packs for the children that he treats. They had some candy, a granola bar, a ball, markers, colored pencils, a pencil sharpener, stickers, a notebook, and a coloring book in them. Colleen and my mom helped my kids and me put them together... along with A LOT of other stuff!
I'll include his descriptions for all these pictures!

"Out on patrol in the bazaar."
"This one is just a local guy that kept coming in for leg pain. He said his leg was broken and he needed money since he couldn’t work.
hmmm."
"New haircut."
"Yes, food is fun. Here I am making some scrambled eggs for breakfast."
"Me and Anderson Cooper"
"Kid that got bit by a dog and we stitched him up. Then gave him some school stuff. "
Nice descriptions, huh!??! Hope you enjoy them! I got to talk to him this morning, but I had to cut him off and hang up because he called right when I was getting kids breakfast and out the door to school. He was supposed to fly up to Leatherneck to get his FMF certification, but the flight request got messed up and they didn't have room for like 8 of them on the chopper. So he's going to try another flight on Saturday. Anyway... he's still bored, still misses home, and is still dirty!
He is going to set up their brick oven again... and hopefully soon because we sent more packages to him, and my mom included like 30 muffin mixes! They use hand sanitizer instead of Sterno to start fires because it's clean-burning and doesn't stink like the Sterno. Lovely, eh... ? This coming from people that poop off a board into a large tub, and then have to burn the excrement... ICK! Seriously!
We are getting ready to send off some more stuff... like tomorrow, with more school supplies for the kids (who were able to start school again after the elections... first time in 8 years!), and more food stuffs for him and his guys! They loved the smores stuff I sent, and they've gotten pretty good at cooking with the stuff we send and the stuff they buy in the local bazaar.
He's doing good and appreciates all your love, support, packages, and most of all your prayers for his safety and that of his guys!

Great pictures. Why does the doctor have to go out on patrol?

Thanks for sharing the great pictures! I'm so glad he's on the down-hill side of things...not too many more days and he'll be back home. Mmmm, hot showers and flushing toilets. The things we take for granted around here.

The houses and dirt remind me of the Indian Pueblos in New Mexico. Not a great place to be.

Huh? Who's hair do you like? And why are you talking about fruit and airline toilets?

I'm with Tandy - where on earth do the airline toilets come into play? Can't imagine that in a mud hut... now that would be a sight, wouldn't it?

About Me

Crazy, stay-at-home mother of three; Alexa, Braeden, and Ella, and wife of Damian! We love life, although sometimes it's just hard to make it through one simple day. We all love each other... more than we can usually show or tell, and we love our friends and family very much! We LOVE the beach, having company, eating out (a rare treat now with three kids 8 and under), swimming, and playing outside!
