By the time Sunday morning was upon us, we had just been gone LONG enough! Especially with Ella... in a car... for many hours!!! Yeesh!
Damian let them all have ice cream for breakfast. I'm really not even sure IF they had anything else. Probably, but I can't promise! ;o)
And since we were on the base where my grandpa was stationed during WWII as a Seabee we hung out for a little while before making our way home as far down the coast as possible and then cutting over to I15 for the very end.

| The mean BEE statues cracked me up. Especially that they were armed with more than just tools. Weapons were totally necessary for those constructing landing strips, buildings, etc. but the bee statues having them was just funny to me! |
After we left Ventura County, we carried on our way on Coast Hwy again, through Malibu, through Santa Monica, and then when we got right by LAX (the airport) we saw a motorcade and wondered why they were stopping traffic coming the opposite way. I was busy explaining what Boeing was to my children, when I turned around to see a Land Rover with English plates on it! I immediately knew who it was! We started waving and telling our kids to do the same, because it was none other than the DUKE AND DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE!!!!!!! Yes, Prince William and his lovely new bride making their first trip to the states... but they were on their way home. We totally saw them. They had their windows down and were waving at those they passed... including us!! Yay! We called Colleen right away! (Remember that though it was a joke for Damian, the kids and I went to Sam's ROYAL WEDDING Extravaganza!) For several miles Ella wanted to go back and see them again! Haha!
After that kind of excitement... nothing left! We had lunch and got on the 91 and headed home! Home... Sweet... HOME!

I don't think daddy was actually stationed there, but it is where he shipped out from to the South Pacific. Great pictures!

Oops... sorry. I do remember you saying that, but just thought that he would ship out from where he was stationed. Hmmm...
Just in case there are some people who don't know what the "Seabees" are and wondering what the bee is holding - it is really CB for construction battalion. They fought with a hammer and saw (as my dad used to say)
