We also got word from her teacher that she is well above any of the other kids in her class as far as her reading level is concerned. Her teacher is not too worried about this, but they have split the kids up into "reading groups" and even the highest level is very easy for Lexi, so her only concern is that she'll have to take her out of a group of her peers and do it with her alone. Not a bad thing at all, but she likes to keep them with their friends because they have more fun and learn better. But she doesn't want her to get bored, either... yikes!
So in the reading groups, they come home with books that they have to read out loud at least 3 times that day, so as to return the book the next day. So she read it once to me, then to Ella and Braeden, and then... well, see for yourself:
And on a side note, Ella has mastered the camera HAM thing! "Cheeeee" is her new favorite thing to say! And she'll even do it for herself when she's carrying around a cell phone! Kids these days...

How come I didn't know Lexi was such an artist? How come we don't have any of her artwork hanging on OUR fridge (not TOO many, mind you!)?? She'll just have to remedy that, now won't she?
I wish Lexi could read to me!
Love, Grandma Pam
Yay for Lexi with her reading. You should ask her why they can't let her go to first grade for reading groups for just that period of time. That's what Avery's class does. Doesn't hurt to check it out. Then she's not bored and she gets to feel more grown up. They love that!
I love Lexi's audience. That is such a precious picture. Aren't kids so creative.
